How To Deal With Chaos and Uncertainty

Right now, we are living through a historic moment.

It is April 2020, and almost every country is on lockdown. It’s uncertain, chaotic and definitely a little bit frightening.

  • • The economy is crumbling
  • • Schools are closing
  • • People are losing their jobs
  • • People’s trips are being cancelled.

We are all going through a rough patch right now, but I want to help lift your spirits and help you maintain that positive mindset.

In today’s post, I’m going to give you some tips on how to stay calm and deal with all the chaos going on right now.

Your Thoughts Matter

Lately, everyone’s thoughts have circled around this pandemic.

Your thoughts control the way you think and the way you think controls the way you feel.

Without a negative thought, there can be no fear, panic or anxiety.

You can’t control the situation, but you can control your mind.

  • • What are you saying to yourself?
  • • What thoughts are on a loop in your mind?
  • • How are these thoughts impacting you?

No matter the circumstance, whether there is a pandemic or not, your thoughts are what is causing you to be afraid and to panic.

Try to focus on right now.

Being present and living in the moment is one of the ways that you can take back some control.

Your emotions are based on your thoughts; that is why having the correct mindset is so crucial.

Dealing with change

Let’s face it; we don’t like change, and neither does our brain. It doesn’t like the unknown and would much rather continue doing what it always does.

Our brain loves habits, and when we are exposed to something that is out of the ordinary or not within our regular routine, our brain freaks out.

By having to stay home and not being able to go out and socialize with other people, we are forced into creating new routines.

The best way to deal with this unwanted change is to simply take a deep breath and take it one day at a time.

Maybe creating a new routine isn’t that bad after all, perhaps you can now finally take up that morning yoga you always wanted to do or maybe now you have time to read that book that you never got around to reading.

Creating a new routine and sticking to it can create a new sense of stability among all this chaos.

Seek Opportunity

This is not the time for panic and fear. This is an opportunity for you to work harder to achieve your dreams.

You have the chance to learn new things and to work on your personal growth. Trips may be cancelled, but personal growth is not.

While the rest of the world is on pause, you need to show up and work towards becoming the best possible version of yourself. Even though you might think so, your dreams are not delayed.

  • Have you wanted to write a book? – schedule time to do so.
  • Have you wanted to start a blog? – start your dream blog today.

Affirmations and Helpful Thinking

Whenever you feel like your anxiety is getting too much for you, take a moment and utilize some affirmations.

  • • I can get through this.
  • • I am safe and secure.
  • • No amount of anxiety can change the future.
  • • I am okay today.
  • • The world is a place of abundance.
  • • I have the strength and patience to overcome this.
  • • Fear is not useful.
  • • This is the perfect time for personal growth.
  • • Humans have gone through this before.
  • • We will get through this again.
  • • This situation will pass.

Be Patient

The facts are that we don’t know how long this situation of uncertainty will continue.

Practising patience is the best thing we can do right now. Keep your perspective and find peace in the fact that this will pass.
