Have you ever found yourself scrolling through social media for hours?
Have you ever wished your life was more like other people’s lives?
Focusing on social media with all its glitz and glam can sometimes make us feel like we aren’t good enough.
We start comparing our behind the scenes to someone else’s highlights.
But it doesn’t have to be that way!
In this post, I’ll show you how you can start romanticizing your life.
Life is something precious and short, and we tend to take it for granted.
You only have one. There is no second chance. This is it.
Letting your life pass you by is the worst mistake you can make.
So many wonderful things are happening, and you’re missing them all.
You have to realize that you are the main character.
You’re not a side character. This is your story.
Once you start romanticizing your life, even the most ordinary things will become spectacular.
I know this sounds cliché, but this is the absolute truth.
No one can make you happy. It has to come from YOU.
Don’t depend on other people to make life worth living. You need to do that for yourself because you deserve it.
When you see something worth remembering, capture it.
And when you feel down go back and look at the pictures you’ve taken.
Remember all the beautiful things you’ve seen.
Trust me, it will put a smile on your face.
It’s time to realize that no one owes you anything.
Everything and everyone we have in our lives are miracles.
They don’t have to be in our lives, but they are, that’s what makes life so special.
We need to start being grateful for the small things.
→ The soft light at the end of the day.
→ The sound of chirping birds in the morning.
→ Being surrounded by people that love you.
→ The chilly breeze in the air that makes you feel alive.
→ Being able to take another breath and see another day.
→ Being able to chase your dreams and pursue your passions.
…to name only a few.
My advice to you is to write down a list of all the small things in life that make you happy.
Every morning when you open your eyes and every night before you go to bed, make sure to read the list.
Take every chance you get and experience everything you can.
Don’t say no in fear of failure or embarrassment.
If there is something you want to do, do it.
It’s as simple as that.
You don’t want to look back on your life one day and wish that you’d taken more chances.
Don’t wait for special occasions to enjoy life.
Being alive is a special occasion.
Make time for at least one thing every day that you love.
Maybe it’s that toasty cup of coffee in the morning, or perhaps it’s getting the chance to write or draw and do something creative.
Whatever it is start making time for it.
Most of the time, fear is what stops us from doing what really makes us happy.
And not just any fear, fear of other people’s opinions.
There have been many times that I’ve seen someone doing something fun, but I thought that I could never do that.
I let fear stop me.
The fear of being embarrassed, the fear of judgement and the fear of not being accepted.
We all have those fears sometimes. But that doesn’t mean we should let them control us.
Since then, I’ve learned to look past those fears.
When my favorite song comes on, I get up and dance, no matter who is watching.
Don’t worry if anyone is watching it’s because they wish they had the courage to live life free from fear like you.
The next time you see someone and think, “I wish my life was like that.” remember that it can be. Remember this article.
It’s up to you to romanticize your life and make it worth living.
Learn to notice the little things and say YES to the things that make you happy.
So next time you get the chance:
→ Walk barefoot on the sand
→ Drink that cup of coffee
→ Watch the sunset
→ Dance in the rain
→ And do everything that brings you joy!
